It's coming! It's getting close!

It's near. I can already see myself buying a new videocard. Aaack. Help! Must buy a new videocard. Wanna know why? See for yourself. Here's a short clip... ahh yes, the good old days. ↑_↑

Just a note to the none-gamers: 'GG' means good game. It's the universal gesture of sportsmanship in multiplayer games. The loser could say it when he admits defeat or the winner could use it either to give the loser a chance to surrender or to admit that he had a good fight. (Sometimes gg is sometimes used to mock the losing players.)

I can't wait for starcraft 2 to hit our shores. I could only wish it would be as popular as DOTA. I dont think the net cafes here would be that willing to upgrade their systems to make way for a new game though. This might die the same way counterstrike condition zero did. But who knows? No one thought Ragnarok, with its pathetic but cute graphics, would be as popular back in its Beta Testing days. I did not get hooked though, only for a couple of weeks. I already got my hands full with my own life, no time to live an alternate one.

Hindi ko pa nasimulan ang layout kasi andaming schoolwork, at out of school work. Hmmm...

Maybe its time to take a different course and deviate from where I feel secure.

Take it slow? Eh... oo nga.... sge... Ask her? "Talk" to her?Hmmm... pwede rin. Sge... this is another one of those bahala na moments.

Another problem... dapat hindi ko na laging kasama yun... yung lagi kong kasama... hmmm... holding on to false hopes na hindi ko tapat pinapangarap na hindi ko nga dapat iniisip na hindi talaga dapat na ayaw ko mangyari an ayaw ko talaga. Argh! May kilala ba kayong Psychologist? Hehehe...

Must focus... isa lang goal ko. Yun. Mahal ko ang goal ko. ^_^
Sge, rundown lang:1. dont expect too much2. stop all that nonesense (included lahat na nonesense diyan)3. gawin na ang layout

LSS

I have often dreamed
Of a far off place
Where a hero's welcome
Would be waiting for me
Where the crowds will cheer
When they see my face
And a voice keeps saying
This is where I'm meant to be

I'll be there someday
I can go the distance
I will find my way
If I can be strong
I know ev'ry mile
Will be worth my while
When I go the distance
I'll be right where I belong

Down an unknown road
To embrace my fate
Though the road may wander
It will lead me to you
And a thousand years
Would be worth the wait
It may take a lifetime
But somehow I'll see it through

And I won't look back
I can go the distance
And I'll stay on track
No I won't accept defeat
It's an uphill slope
But I won't lose hope
Till I go the distance
And my journey is complete

But to look beyond the glory is the hardest part
For a hero's strength is measured by his heart

Like a shooting star
I can go the distance
I will search the world
I will face its harms
I don't care how far
I can go the distance
TillI find my hero's welcome
Waiting in your arms...

I will search the world
I will face its harms
TillI find my hero's welcome
Waiting in your* arms...

*ahahahahaha... yes you... *sigh*

Mixed Nuts

***warning, geeky stuff ahead***

After a few days of trial and error I finally got my system to work at 100% efficiency. (LAN is still buggy, so I would say 95%) Hehe. Now my windows XP looks like this! It's a modified version that has all the good stuff that Windows Vista has minus the super heavy requirements. It looks really cool and my boot up time is now only 45 seconds, considering that I already have Norton 360 installed. Hmm, the CD also has media player 11 and IE 7 (and more) bundled into it. So no more updates after installation. The only bad news is that I reformated all my disks. Darn virus. But I needed the space anyways. It feels like a brand new system.

No chat for the past few days. One, because of the buggy connection due to the virus. Two, because of my failed attempts at installing this OS. Three, na 'confiscate' ang laptop niya. Hmmm... and... Four, because I need to study today. Haay. I miss her na. Awww, tapos no gala this weekend. Ok lang, we had to do some stuff at school naman and I guess I could go with my highschool friends nalang ulit. Most of them have classes na kasi. Hehe.... but still... haay... miss ko siya.

I think I need to make a secret blog... not that this blog is not secret enough already.

Just a reminder to self, I must join that photography contest. No idea why, gusto ko lang. Hehe. Kahit I'm not that good, its a good learning experience. Hehe.

Now I must return to my studies... Im sleepy... maybe bukas nalang, I mean later. Unli ako sa globe ngayon... dahil nga we have to plan for this mini reunion this weekend.

Iloilo Banwa Ko

This is a video I made during the summer vacation... yeah right... haha... but seriously, this is a promotional video made for Iloilo, my province... (Iloilo, Banwa ko in Hiligaynon.) I would like to clear out some things before everything else. just because Iloilo is from the Visayas, more specifically Western Visayas, that does not mean that everyone there is "Bisaya." No, Bisaya are people who speak "Bisaya" (duh!), and those guys come from places like Cebu. The more popular dialect spoken in our region is Hiligaynon, which sounds very "Bisaya" to untrained ears but can be very different to people who speak it. People from Iloilo and the neighboring area are called Ilonggos. Getch( ); ?

The first scene in the video is the intersection in front of the Provincial Capitol, Atrium (one of the malls), and one end of Assumption de Iloilo. Good thing they filmed during the night, a few hours earlier and that place would have been crawling with traffic.

The blue water scene was taken near the vicinity of Fort San Pedro, an old spanish fortress which used to protect the city from invading nomadic hordes, angry pirate sea dogs, jihad-minded fanatics, Japanese suicide bombers, and the occasional wrathful fisherman with a 10-pound fish (what he did with that fish, no one knows). Stories say that a prison used to house convicts below the fort. Forgetful Spanish architects intentionally forgot t make to cells watertight so they flooded when high tides came, a one way trip to Davey Jone's locker for the convicts. Ghost stories aside, modern Fort San Pedro is now transformed into a seaside drive through restaurant specializing in grilled chicken and steamed oysters. The concrete structures overlooking Guimaras Strait serve as sea walls, which help weaken the waves to stop erosion. They can also serve as platforms for nameless silhouettes relaxing on a sleepy sunday afternoon.

The next scenes showcase all the new restaurants, sports centers, call centers, housing projects, skyscrapers, hotels, resorts, and other big city leisure spots that seem to be popping out of the ground every time I come home for another vacation. Some I don't ever recognize anymore. As long as you have the cash... its a fun place to visit. Sta. Barbara golf course, that place with a lot of grass, is one of the oldest 18 holes in the country. I dunno how old specifically, but I know it's old.

The mall with the big fountain is Robinson's Place Iloilo (what a fun mall?). That's where our home used to be, until Mr. Robinson bought the entire block and placed his big bad mall there. If you want to visit where out house used to stand, just go to the store in front of RRJ (rough rider jeans). I don't know the specific name. Another tip, if you want free Wi-Fi, just sit in front of Kublai-Khan restaurant. The stupid coffee shop beside it offers Wi-Fi for a price, without knowing that they are within reach of Kubai-Khan's signal, the imperialist dogs. Virgins beware, a big golden snake haunts the comfort rooms of this mall (or any other robinsons mall - as legend says). It is known to swallow its victims whole. The lucky ones get to marry the vile creature. I'm betting that the only priest who would marry such a couple would also be married himself. Not that there are any married priests in Iloilo. *grin*

The white sand beach is not Boracay. Believe it or not, its just a 30-minute boat ride from Iloilo. Yes, its in oil-stricken Guimaras Island. But fear not, those beaches have been spared from an oily doom. Its a wonderful place to watch the Paraw Regatta. The regatta is a sailboat race where colorful-sailed, tiny boats (see boats in the background) battle the wind and water to win the prize. We once watched that race while eating smoked lobster and other exotic seafood in a cottage by the rocky beach. A memory that stays even to this day. (I could still taste that lobster) *drool*

Modernization of the city is also in full throttle. New bridges, businesses, and opportunities appearing out of thin air almost every day. Some of my friends already have jobs in the call centers featured in the video. Iloilo city International Airport of International Standards (not its real name) has already opened and all air traffic in the area has been directed to the new place. The demand for air travel is fueled by everyone from Boracay-bound tourists to foreign English students from Korea.

Our cultural heritage are also showcased in this film. In order of appearance: Molo Church, Jaro Cathedral Bell Tower, Museo Iloilo, and Old Provincial Capitol (with the fountain in front, ground zero for all roadside distance markers). Church Hopping is a fun experience if you want to spend your holy week here. (afterwards you can go to Boracay to celebrate.) But you can always go to Boracay if you think summer is too hot. A 4000 peso budget would be enough. As long as you have fun, money doesn't really matter, but it sure could help a lot. Boracay is 4 hours away from Iloilo.

Well that's it, a short few seconds of my hometown. Hehe... be sure to contact me if your planning to visit. Our friendly operators are standing by 23 hours a day. Enjoy!

720 degrees?

My first attempts at posting a YouTube video... hahaha... just one of the stunts we did at the condo's pool. If I learn video editing I might make a video montage of all our footage. For now, this will do. More videos later. Or maybe I'll try my multiply site.

Note to self, videos/widgets are all in 340x280 sizes.

Save the Internet

Lets take a short pause from my rants and raves and discuss this thing I stumbled over the internet... first see the video...

I never knew such a thing even existed until now. I don't know how this would affect our third world country but by the looks of things... this seems bad. If those first-worlders look distressed because of this, I think I have reason to be worried. Internet cost could triple. And you just don't know how the internet affects the lives of every Juan Dela Cruz in this country.

Bank transactions are done over the internet. Power plants synchronize their outputs over the internet. Media circulates over the internet. Our enrollment, our grades, our curriculum, our schedules are processed over the internet. And if I heard right, doesn't the Philippines have the most Friendster user's in the world? What about my little blog! Crunchyroll! YouTube! Yahoo! OTshare! Kupalogs! Mapua Ownage!

So unless you lived under a stone for the past decade, you should see the importance of the internet in making our little lives a lot more meaningful. I don't know any way of helping solve this problem but I know a certain website who does.

www.savetheinternet.com

Damn politicians, damn greedy companies. Its the same everywhere. Not only in our country. I can seem to lose the feeling of being in the control of those big, greedy, companies.

I twiddle my thumbs...

Reality Check

Holeh heck! Im starting to realize the negative consequences of my choice to rejoin my old "barkada" for next term.

Sure I need them, they're a great help when it comes to projects, assignments, study groups, and most other academic activities that could even include some "secretary work" like reminding me of deadlines and doing my homework. But if you've been a close reader of my blog, you must already know that life turned to hell when cupid struck me with a poison arrow. The rest is history, but yeah... I had to leave them for the sake of my sanity.

Six or so months later... time has healed most of the wounds and I was ready to be friends again. They were willing to accept me... miss na rin nila ako. Great, diba? Life has been good to me during my absence sa barkada. Most of my teachers were cool, kaya konte lang ang academic problems. I met a lot of new people, made new friends, and became closer to most of my old acquaintances. Adding more friends to my inventory would'nt hurt right? Especially when those friends were once really close to you. I could'nt be more mistaken.

I checked my friendster after a long absence and found it loaded with activity. Amidst all the clutter her message stuck out like a sore thumb. It was just a few harmless words, "ang pics natin sa MOA nandun kay mr chuchuchu." "Ok fine, so what I dont care... Sge nga click ko nga ang profile niya. Matagal ko na rin kasi hindi nabuksan yun. Recently ko lang ulit dinagdag sa friends list ko yun." That was when reality hit me.

A lot of things has happened to her during the past six months, the most surprising was that... basing on the comments of her friends, and her additude towards that person's account... she met someone. Big deal, right? I should not really care since I myself met a few special people during that time. But why am I struck with this overhelming pang of jealousy? Sabi ko pa nga nung una ko nakita ang new pics niya, ang pangit na niya dahil tumaba siya, umitim pa, ang gulo pa rin ng buhok.... yadda yadda yadda... but why do I still feel this way? I dont like her physically, and ayaw na ayaw ko rin ang attitude niya... pero why naiinggit ako?

I must be strong and look away. I wish I had a hand to hold right now.

***

Wala ka nga load! Yes! That's just the answer that I needed. Sana I'll see you soon. Thanks for everything po. Sana you'll still be there next term. Dito lang ako always. ^_^

Pensive

pen·sive [pĂ©nssiv]adjective

deeply thoughtful: thinking deeply about something, especially in a sad or serious manner

Microsoft® Encarta® 2006. © 1993-2005 Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved.

Im supposed to write down a long, long blog article tonight because I've got a lot of things on my mind. I mean a lot, it's been so long since I last posted something. However, I got so engrossed in trying to download some "homebrew" or software for my PSP over this slothlike connection that I lost most of my zeal. Then again, this stupid connection is getting on my nerves so while the different forums and download sites load... I'll type away my rants and raves in another window... it's offpeak hours from 12am to 8am so internet is free... two thumbs up! yey!.

Today's not so bad. Woke up at the usual time. Around 11am... ^_^ Parents were away trying to find a highschool for my brother so we had to wait a while for lunch. Of course I had the option of zapping some hotdogs with the microwave again, but my parents usually bring home tastier goodies than those hotdogs so I decided against it. It was letchon manok this time so we had a hearty lunch. =).

The boybands were texting DOTA at 2pm but I didnt come. Me and bro were scheduled to play badminton that afternoon so I had to cancel on some of my "appointments." Besides, it has been almost a week since my last workout so my cheeks were starting to inflate from all the food I've been gobbling up. He beat me 3-0 but thats ok, I always win the second set but don't have enough stamina to beat him for the third. He had formal training anyway and won silver in the district meets. Im still better at painball. Whoohoo... FYI, badminton at City Sports costs only 50 pesos per head during off peal hours. And as long as there's a free, non-hourly basis court - you can play all you want.. even on the rubberized surfaces. Cool. :P.

Ok I admit it, I'm kinda obsessed with my PSP that I'm currently spending a lot of cash on it this summer. On the first week, I bought a crystal case for 500 pesos - that's to protect it from scratches and shock while I'm playing. To lessen the chances of me dropping my precious - I bought a wrist strap, which is more of a chain since its made of metal. Thats 70 pesos. So that I can play pirated games, I had it upgraded to version 3.30 OE-A'. That's an open edition firmware by dark alex for you tech heads. Since no one in Iloilo had the technology or knowhow (actually I had, but again, im an internet connection deprived individual) we had to send the unit to manila for two days. The "package" comes with four games for 2500. Amf! If only I had a DSL connection I could do it myself... tsktsktsk. Anways, my PSP is working fine and Im currently playing grand theft auto vice city stories. More recently after badminton practice, me wnd bro went strait to SM. My sister is practicing Hula dancing there so we met up with my parents. I had some cash at hand so again I was temted to buy another peripheral for this accursed unit. This time its a remote control for 380 pesos. This will enable me to play MP3s while my PSP is safely tucked away in my bag or something. I still have a lot of things on my list but those will have to wait. I need cash. Argh!

Ok, straight to the meaty stuff.

I feel so lost. I dont know what to do. Sometimes I feel like quitting on her. Erm... girls... yeah... its another issue about girls.... or a certain girl this time... "thee girl" ... .... or so I thought.

She's got so many special people in her life that it's getting hard to compete... to get attention... I wont expound on any of them but I can tell you this: my radar is picking up at least three blips.

Well, all is fair. I dont think I want to abandon ship yet, although I've had a few sleepless nights thinking about the idea.I hope everything will turn out to be ok. Sana nga wala lang talaga siyang load. T.T

As the song goes: To think by now I've learned, you play with fire and you get burned. But fire can be, oh so warm, and that's why I've returned...

Singing sad love songs, despising love flicks (yeah a lot of them were shown on the local channels this holy week), and hating most of everything aroung me. Argh, Im becoming a sentimental fool again, trying to view the world with fading rose tinted glasses... my proverbial circle of life is starting to complete another revolution. *sigh*

Preparing for the worst but hoping for the best.... I still have all ten fingers crossed..

..so help me God.
